Instructor Training Course (ITC)
"The goal of the Instructor Training Course (ITC) is to increase your retail business and industry knowledge, expand your teaching skills and add professional presentation/sales experience through modern workshops and practical applications."
The SSI Instructor Training Course is a unique program that has stood the test of time. In order to stay competitive in today’s diving industry, the program has been updated to ensure that all Dive Professionals are equipped with the latest retail business training and industry knowledge. A newly certified SSI Open Water Instructor can be absolutely sure to have all necessary skills and knowledge to work successfully.
We have created a monthly 16 days program that will take you from SSI Divemaster (or equivalent Divemaster certification from another agency) to SSI Open Water Instructor.
|ITC courses breakdown||Duration|
|Respond Right Instructor||2 days|
|Free Extra Preparation||2 days|
|Dive Control Specialist||4 days|
|Instructor Training Course||6 days|
|Instructor Evaluation (IE)||2 days|
Respond Right Instructor is optional but highly recommended, it will qualify you to teach the required First Aid, CPR and Oxygen Provider each diver needs to enrol in the Stress & Rescue Specialty. It is also a course that can be offered outside of the diving environment which can offer you additional income sources.
We offer you 2 free extra days of preparation during the course. This will give you more opportunities to challenge yourself and practice additional evaluations. There will also be time to discuss important additional subjects, like job search, cv writing,... or additional questions you may have about the dive industry. With these 2 extra days you will be extremely well prepared for the Instructor Evaluation and ready to start working right after that!
Our Instructor courses always combines both the Dive Control Specialist and the actual Instructor Training Course. This ensures that you have enough time to practice and improve all your skills up to Instructor level. Should you already be certified as a Dive Control Specialist please let us know.
The final Instructor Evaluation is conducted over 2 days by an external SSI Instructor Certifier. During this 2 days you will be evaluated on your knowledge and teaching skills.
You should plan all these days as full time, days can sometimes become long and nights should be used for preparations for the next day.
Why not make yourself more employable and add variety to your teaching by choosing Specialty Instructor ratings? After your successful certification and a well deserved day off, we will start the Advanced Open Water Instructor preparation. During these 2 days we will teach you how to market, plan and conduct several specialty programs, certifying you as Specialty Instructor.
